We are Rob and Melissa McGuffey. We moved our family from Louisville, Kentucky to San Lucas, Sacatetpequez, Guatemala September 6, 2017 to serve as team coordinators for a privately ran orphanage named Casa Shalom (house of peace).  Rob has a background in project management and construction and Melissa is a Registered Nurse. We have 2 children, Evie, age nine and Elliot, age 6.

We worked together directing short-term missions teams to help with projects and funding needed to maintain and grow Casa Shalom for 15 months. As of January 2019, Rob transitioned out of Casa Shalom to join Servants Hearts Ministries (SHM), a group of strong Christian men who build houses, drill for wells, install efficient and safe wood-burning stoves, proved water filtration, assist with feeding centers, all while spreading the love of Jesus and giving the Living Word to many Guatemalans in need. Melissa has had the opportunity to transition as well to be the RN of Casa Shalom. She assists in the clinic, the pharmacy, follows nutritional health and growth of all the children at Casa Shalom. She assists to create and maintain organizational tracking of each child’s medications and vitamin regimens and is focusing on improving each child’s health to give them the best base for a healthy future.

We don’t know when God will call us back to the U.S., so as of now we are trying our best to make an impact in the lives that God has placed on our path as well as to provide a happy and healthy life for our 2 children and to teach them that they too can do BIG things for God’s Kingdom.
